Description

Centered around the traffic roundabout by the same name, Dupont Circle is a lively cultural neighborhood in Washington, D.C. The area contains the most private art galleries in the district, unique ethnic restaurants and shopping and is an active community center in a city dominated by world politics.

The streets of Dupont are lined with historic mansions from a time in the 19th century when massive amounts of new wealth were being flaunted to a nation seeking pride after the Civil War.

Today the neighborhood is home to one of D.C.'s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and trasngender communities, serving as a staging ground for annual festivals and year-round activism.
